Why was my last parking location wrong?

There are a number of reasons why your last parking location might not be accurate. Please see our troubleshooting list below.

1. Ensure Location Services are Enabled for the Carbucks App

To check your location settings:

  • On iOS: Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services (On) > Carbucks > Always

Important Note: To ensure automatic drive detection, make sure the location services for Carbucks are set to "Always"

  • On Android: Go to Settings > Settings > Apps > Carbucks > Location Permissions > Allow all the time

Important Note: "High Accuracy" mode is required on Android. You can confirm if it's enabled by going to Settings > Security & Location > Location > Mode > High Accuracy.

2. Avoid Force-Quitting the Carbucks App

Force-Quitting the app can stop all drive detection on many versions of iOS and Android. To prevent this, keep the Carbucks app running in the background of your device. This will allow it to capture and record your drives effectively.

3. Check for Restrictions on Background Data, App, or Battery Usage

Certain default settings or apps on Android devices may automatically shut down apps, preventing Carbucks' drive detection from running in the background. To avoid any gaps in your driving record, refer to your Android device's instructions on how to prevent or resolve these issues for Carbucks. You can find more information in the article "Optimize Mileage Log/Car Parking Location on Android Phones."

Third-party apps on iOS and Android that claim to boost memory, compress data, kill tasks, save battery, provide antivirus protection, or manage apps can interfere with Carbucks. For improved drive detection, consider disabling these apps or adding Carbucks to their Whitelist or Ignore List.

4. Keep the Carbucks App Running in the Background

Aside from classifying your drives while they're fresh in your memory, regularly opening the mobile app also prevents it from being shut down unknowingly by any app or battery optimizing settings. By doing so, you ensure that Carbucks continues to run in the background and detect your drives accurately.

Important Note: On iOS, your iPhone may occasionally prompt you with the message "Carbucks Has Been Using Your Location In The Background. Do You Want to Continue Allowing This?"

To ensure Carbucks can detect drives, please select "Continue" when prompted. If you choose "Don't Allow," location services will be disabled, and Carbucks will be unable to continue detecting your trips

 

...and another note... If you can not find the Carbucks app on your iOS device, check the "Offload Unused Apps" setting under Settings > General > iPhone Storage. If enabled and Carbucks has not been launched or detected any movement for a while, it may have been deleted by iOS. In this case, you'll need to reinstall Carbucks from the App Store.

5. Verify Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Settings

Even when you're not connected to a Wi-Fi hotspot, your mobile device uses the proximity of hotspots (such as those found in coffee shops) to register location information. Wi-Fi is more efficient on batteries compared to other location sources like GPS. To ensure accurate location registration, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and make sure it's turned on.

6. Check Background App Refresh/Data Settings

To verify your background refresh/data settings:

  • On iOS, go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh > Carbucks > On
  • On Android, go to Settings > Wireless & networks > Data usage > Cellular data > On

Important Note: On Android, make sure to uncheck "Restrict background data" both from the Data Usage Menu icon (appearance may vary depending on the device) and the Carbucks icon under App usage.

Additionally, if you have set a cellular data limit, ensure that you haven't exceeded it recently.

7. Update Your Device's Operating System

Keeping your phone's operating system up to date ensures that you have the latest features to support and protect background apps like Carbuck. To update your device's OS:

  • On iOS, go to Settings > General > Software Update > Download and Install
  • On Android, go to Settings > System > About phone > System updates

8. Update to the Latest Version of Carbucks

To ensure optimal performance, make sure you have the latest version of Carbucks installed. You can update your version of Carbucks as follows:

  • On iOS, go to the App Store > Updates > Carbucks > Update
  • On Android, go to Play Store > Settings (top left corner) > My apps > Carbucks > Update

9. Check Your Account Status

Ensure that you are currently logged in to the Carbucks app using the correct email address.

After signing in, you should see the email address associated with your account by clicking on the icon in the upper left corner.

Double-check for any misspellings, as this can accidentally create a second account.
